Poultry Litter Spreaders

High-volume poultry operations need a litter spreader that can keep up with the output of a commercial chicken house. Pequea poultry litter spreaders with hopper lengths ranging from 16 to 22 feet and payload capacities up to 27,000 pounds are engineered to meet those demands. Available in truck-mount or tandem axle configurations, our heavy-duty chicken litter spreaders are designed and built in the United States by a family-owned company that stands behind every unit we sell.

What Is a Poultry Litter Spreader, and How Does It Work?

Poultry litter is a dense mix of bedding, manure and feathers that builds up on the floor of a commercial chicken house. Farmers recycle this litter back into fields and pastures as organic fertilizer, providing valuable nutrients to the soil. A poultry litter spreader makes that process efficient and consistent. The Pequea SP Series was purpose-built for exactly that job.

Once the hopper is loaded, a floor chain on tongue-and-groove poly flooring moves the litter steadily toward the rear of the unit. Heavy-duty 25-inch spinner discs evenly distribute the material across the field. Hydraulic flow controls allow the operator to adjust floor and spinner speeds on the go, controlling how much material is spread with each pass.

Benefits of Poultry Litter as a Fertilizer

Poultry litter is among the most nutrient-dense organic fertilizers available to farmers. Rich in nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus, it builds soil health and supports strong crop growth across pastures, hay fields and row crops. Spreading it evenly and consistently helps achieve maximum nutrient uptake across the entire field.

Here’s a breakdown of the benefits:

  • High nitrogen content supports vigorous plant growth
  • Phosphorus promotes strong root development
  • Potassium improves drought resistance and overall crop health
  • Organic matter content improves soil structure over time
  • Litter acts as a cost-effective alternative to synthetic fertilizers

Choosing the Right Poultry Manure Spreader Configuration

Pequea offers the SP Series poultry litter spreaders in truck-mounted and tandem-axle configurations. The truck-mounted option attaches directly to a truck bed, making it great for operations that need to cover a lot of ground quickly without a dedicated tractor. The tandem-axle configuration is tractor-pulled and better for field work, where maneuverability and precise spreading control are high priorities. Both configurations come standard with a sight window, adjustable spinners and hydraulic flow controls.

The hopper length determines how much material the spreader can carry per load. That impacts how many cycles it might take to cover a field. Selecting the right length depends on your operation size and daily volume.
