How Does a Pull-Behind Fertilizer Spreader Work?
An agricultural fertilizer spreader is a tractor-pulled attachment designed to apply granular fertilizers, lime, gypsum and other soil amendments evenly across a field. The SF5 executes this process through a power take-off (PTO) hydraulic system that gives operators precise control over spread width and application rate.
Once material is loaded into the hopper, the stainless steel mesh floor feeds it to the conveyor belt at a controlled rate. The adjustable-width conveyor then delivers material to the spinners, which broadcast it across a 10 to 20-foot swath. Flow control is independently adjustable on the conveyor and spinners, allowing for fine-tuned application across different crop types and row spacing.
Benefits of the SF5 Breakaway Pivot System
Working in tight orchard rows and vineyard applications leaves little room for error. A conveyor striking a vine, post or tree can damage crops and equipment with the least bit of contact.
The SF5 addresses this with a breakaway pivot system built into the rear conveyor. When the conveyor contacts an obstacle, it automatically rotates away to avoid damage. Once clear, it returns to center unassisted.
